Meet the group on Sao Miguel island, where we will spend three days exploring the cuisine, wines, volcanic hot springs, and gardens of this island. Then, the group will travel to Pico Island where we’ll see rare, majestic landscapes, taste incredible wines, and visit UNESCO world heritage sites. Weather permitting, we will go whale watching and climb the famous volcano. You won’t want to miss this immersive 7 days in the culture, wine, and food of the Azores!
Adventure Level: Medium to high. We’ll visit vineyards, which are full of volcanic rocks. Hiking the volcano will be optional, but if you choose to take this hike, it lasts almost all day and is a serious workout! It’s amazing if you make it to the caldera.
Meals: Will be a mix of casual, rustic local, and there will be two fancier meals.
Clothes: Think casual plus a mix of business casual. You will want sneakers or boots for visiting the wineries. You will want a bathing suit that is OK to get mud on in the natural hot springs. You will also want flexible clothes for warm, rainy, and chilly weather (layers!). In the city, the sidewalks are paved with small mosaic tiles, so heels are *not* ideal for walking in town.

*The Azores itinerary will be flexible and modular, meaning that certain activities will move around based on the weather. Some parts of the Azores have unique weather- with an unexpected hour of rain here and there. We will move indoor activities to rainy periods, and outdoor activities to sunny periods. It's best to go in expecting that weather conditions *will* lead to adjustments with the itinerary, and that we will move the modules around so you can best explore the islands.
